‘The Flash’ Gets Full CW Season Order
'Arrow' spinoff 'The Flash' has speedily become one of the better-received series of the year, let alone its success for the CW, making the latest update seem somewhat slow by comparison. The DC sci-fi drama has officially been given a full season order for its back 9 episodes, along with fellow CW success 'Jane the Virgin.'
Tonight debuting its third episode "Things You Can't Outrun," 'The Flash''s early pickup should surprise relatively few, considering the network had ordered additional scripts weeks ago. Not only that, but the October 7 premiere made for the highest-watched debut in CW history, garnering near-universal acclaim for the series across the board.
Says The CW of its 'Flash'-y decision, which also includes a full season for telenovela adaptation 'Jane the Virgin':
We have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with The Flash launching as our most-watched series premiere ever, and Jane the Virgin recognized as the best new show this season by critics across the country.
Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all counts. I’m thrilled to announce full season orders for both of these terrific new series.
In addition to tonight's introduction of 'Arrow' star Stephen Amell's cousin Robbie as Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm, upcoming 'Flash' episodes will introduce Andy Mientus' Pied Piper, Kelly Frye's Plastique, 'Prison Break' stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as Captain Cold and Heat Wave, Robert Knepper's returning Clock King, Greg Finley's Girder, and Clancy Brown's General Wade Eiling.
We'll even see 'The Flash' and 'Arrow' crossing over in December, but in the meantime, what say you? Are you happy to have 'The Flash' given a firm commitment to a full season of 22 episodes?
